Half a year

Happy New Year! I celebrated my first holiday with Mom, Dad, and both sets of grandparents. It was a fun Christmas and I got lots of toys! I'm so spoiled.

Christmas morning Skype session with Auntie Larissa and cousin Alex in the UK

I am also half a year old now! Just six months ago I entered this world and I have not looked back since. Every day is a new adventure and I just keep growing and discovering new things.
  • I weigh 14 lbs, 6 oz. and am 24 inches long. My weight gain has definitely slowed down the past two months, but I'm officially double my birth weight!
  • I recognize different people and faces. When I get dropped off at day care in the morning I smile at the sight of Johanna. And my face lights up when I see Dad at the end of the day picking me up (although I still look right past Mom). I also have a special smile for Grandma (or I'm smiling because she makes funny noises at me).
  • I can track moving objects. Especially Mom or Dad when they're walking across the room and the other is holding me.
  • New favorite pasttime - hanging in my Jumperoo! Soooo fun! Other things I love include grabbing the ladybug that hangs in the carseat, and playing with the spinning toys on the Exersaucer and Jumperoo.
  • I've been eating solids for two weeks now. I've only had rice cereal and oatmeal so far, and most of it ends up on my hands/face than in my mouth. But I enjoy eating from a spoon and happily open my mouth when it comes toward me. Next up - avocados!
  • I love myself. Seriously, every time I see my reflection in any mirror I smile.
Rice cereal - yum.

  1. Oops, Kaitlyn! Mommy and Daddy forgot to share that their extended family with 3 kids travelled ALL the way from the East Coast to meet you and spend Christmas with you as well. We loved playing with you.
