22 Months

I am 22 months old (and silly as ever)! This month went by so quickly! Just a few quick updates:
  • Talking: I know well over 200 words and we can no longer keep track of all the new ones. Phrases were big this month, including: pee pee potty, poo poo potty, I don't know, I did it, up and down, where is it? and there it is! I also use possessive nouns more and point out if something belongs to Mommy or Daddy.
  • I can count to ten in English and Spanish! I like to hold my fingers up while counting too, but still don't know how many to hold up.
  • Singing: I'm getting better at singing along to the ABC song and can get about 90% of the letters right. I've also been heard humming the entire melody on my own...or is it Twinkle Twinkle Little Star?
  • My favorite things (this month): It was all about Dora this month: Dora coloring books, Dora stickers, Dora apps, Dora the TV show, and Dora the life-size doll (at daycare). That chica is talented. I even memorized and can sing along to the Dora theme song. Other obsessions this month: drawing and coloring, slides at playgrounds, and as usual, all animals.
  • Reading: I've gotten very opinionated about which books we read at bedtime, and will shake my head no if I don't want to read a certain book. As if that weren't enough, I've also been playing favorites and demanding who gets to read to me. The majority of the time I pick Mommy, and if Daddy starts reading, I'll shake my head no and grab the book from his hands. Poor Daddy.
  • I can reach things! I finally figured out that I can take the step stool for my play kitchen and use it to reach other things around the house, including the kitchen counter, dinner table, and even to climb up onto Mommy and Daddy's bed. It's funny to watch me carry that step stool all over the house.
  • Shoe dilemma: I've been refusing to wear any new shoes, aside from the three pairs I currently own. Mommy has been trying to get me some new shoes to wear with all my cute dresses, but I refuse to cooperate. Even if she manages to get a pair on me, I'll refuse to stand on my feet and try to yank them off. I even caused a scene in the shoe store today. Who knew shoe shopping for a girl could be this hard?

Cherry Blossom Festival

We spent another fun weekend at Grandma and Grandpa's, and checked out the Cupertino Cherry Blossom Festival at Memorial Park. There was Japanese food, art, demonstrations, and cultural exhibits, but of course all I wanted to see were the animals!

This akita was so fluffy. I couldn't stop petting him!

Koi fishies.

I even rode a pony, but didn't stay on very long.

After a stop at the playground, we cooled off with some shave ice. Yummy!

On the way out we passed by a bouncy house and watched some kids jumping. Mommy asked if I wanted to go in. My response? "Up and down!" while nodding my head. Luckily there were no other kids in line so when it was my turn I had the bouncy house all to myself!

Even Daddy got to go in with me. Clearly I need to work on my balance.

I had so much fun at the festival that we stopped by again the following morning. This time I went just to meet some more animals at the petting zoo.

Hello Guinea Pig!
Hello Horsy!
I got a Dora pinwheel and enjoyed some kettle corn too.

Mommy and Daddy are really good at tiring me out. I passed out on the floor at Grandma and Grandpa's for two hours!

Spring Fling

This past weekend we enjoyed some awesome weather at the BMC Annual Spring Fling in Washington Square Park.

There were bunnies!

And duckies!

There was also a bubble station. A bubble guy made some giant bubbles. Then, I attempted to make my own.

I made some bunny ears at the crafts table, but then I refused to give up the glue stick. Mommy had to distract me with oranges.

It was such a nice day that we took a second afternoon outing to Burton Park. Anything to keep me busy and tire me out!

Happy Spring!

San Diego Safari Park

It was a beautiful day for the zoo, and we all had a blast at Safari Park.

Kieran showed me one of his favorite exhibits, Lorikeet Landing. I loved the colorful little birds and even tried to feed them some nectar.

Then, we visited Butterfly Jungle. There were butterflies everywhere! Mommy took lots of pics.

A butterfly even landed on her shirt and we all got a close-up look.

Finally, we went on the Africa Tram Safari.

We got really lucky since most of the animals were out and we got to see a lot more than expected. Even the safari guide said it was one of her best tours in a long time (or she could have been lying).

"Raffe!"
We even witnessed a fight!

Afterward, I passed out in my stroller and missed this gorilla family.

What a memorable trip!

Easter in San DiEGGo

We spent an extra long Easter weekend in San Diego with Goo Ma, Goo Jeff, Alex and Kieran. I had soooo much fun!

The weekend started with an Easter Egg hunt in Torrey Hills. Although I had gotten some practice doing an egg hunt at day care, I was a little overwhelmed at first. There were so many people! I was also distracted by this giant Easter bunny giving out hugs in the middle of the field. It was scary and I had to make sure it didn't come near me. I still made out pretty well and was able to gather ten eggs (with Daddy's help).

The field for 0-2 year olds.
Keeping my eye out for the Easter bunny. Don't let that thing come near me.

Alex and Kieran did the hunt for the older kids and afterwards we compared our loot.

That night we left our empty baskets out and in the morning, we discovered that the Easter bunny had come to visit! My basket was filled with goodies, including a puppy book, a bunny, clothes, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, candy, and Peeps. Even though I was terrified of the Easter bunny (and therefore have no pictures with it), I guess that giant bunny isn't so bad after all. Thanks Easter bunny!

We also enjoyed a private egg hunt in the backyard.

Looking like a pro.
My cousins really know how to show me a good time!

We went to the swimming pool three days in a row!
