Art Camp:
Mommy wasted no time in signing me up for various summer camps. I started out with my first session of Art Camp. It was actually an extended art class held out of a woman's garage-turned-studio. Every day we worked on different projects, including tie-dyeing t-shirts, paper mache, clay sculpting, drawing and painting. We even made our own lemonade. I really enjoyed it and at the end of the week there was an art show where we showed off all our projects.
Toward the end of summer I did a second session. It probably wasn't as exciting as the first since it was no longer new to me, but I still had fun and worked on some more cool art projects.
Safari Run Camp:
Another week was spent at Safari Run camp, a fun indoor play space. Every day consisted of structured activities, games, science projects, and free play time. Mommy liked that there was lots of emphasis on healthy foods and the importance of exercise. I just liked going down the giant slides. It was nice that the camp counselors took pictures all week and posted them at the end of the session so parents could see what we were up to. As you can see Wylie and I were pretty much inseparable - I definitely wouldn't have had as much fun if he wasn't there.
Summer School:
My favorite thing all summer was definitely summer school, a four-week long kindergarten readiness class. The best thing about it was that a bunch of friends from my preschool were also in the class, so it was just like being back at preschool, but in a different school. We also made some new friends, and every day after class a group of us stayed to hang out, eat lunch, and play more.
Pony Camp:
One of my friends from preschool and summer school invited me to attend one day of Pony Camp with her. Since it was on July 3rd (a holiday for most people) we ended up being the only two kids that day. It was great to have the entire farm to ourselves! We happily spent the day feeding the chickens and goats, playing in the barn, and going on pony rides. If it weren't all the way in Half Moon Bay Mommy would have considered sending me there for the whole week.
Aside from the camps and classes, the rest of our summer days were filled with all sorts of things: lots of trips to the gym pool, soccer class, organized craft projects at the toy store downtown, free magic and circus shows at the library every Tuesday afternoon (we did this eight straight weeks in a row), and lots of frozen treat outings. Some days were busy and fun, other days we drove Mommy crazy (mostly Colin!), and there were lots of days where I watched way too much TV. We're sad that summer has come to an end, but happy about starting kindergarten!
