Curiodyssey

This weekend I met up with friends Kira, Kyla, and Alexandre at Curiodyssey, a small science museum and zoo near our house. Here are just a few pics - getting four toddlers in a picture all at the same time is not easy!

All four of us, checking out the otters.
One of the otters saying hi to me and Kyla.
Birdie!
Alex giving me a hug goodbye. He's such a charmer.

23 Months

Whoa, can you believe that I am almost 2 years old? Crazy!

This month was filled with ups and downs, with the highlight being our trip to Vegas. However, at the beginning of the month, I contracted hand, foot and mouth disease, aka Coxsackie virus. Ewww. At least it was just a mild form, in fact, Mommy and Daddy had no clue until they took me to the after hours clinic to check out some bumps in my mouth. All of my other symptoms had been mistaken for something else. I had bumps on my bottom (which looked a lot like diaper rash), a fever two weeks earlier and general fussiness (which they assumed was due to molars coming in). I lost my appetite for a few days since those little bumps in my mouth made it painful to eat - it was really tough on all of us. At least by the time I was diagnosed, the worst was over and I am back to my healthy self again.

Some other updates (Instagram edition!):
  • What's hot this month: Two months ago it was Grover, last month it was Dora, this month it's Elmo videos on YouTube. I am obsessed! I can sit and quietly watch an Elmo video for up to an hour, which is great when we go to restaurants or on plane rides, or in the mornings when I wake up too early and Mommy needs some extra sleep. Not so great: demanding Elmo every minute I am home and throwing a tantrum when I don't get to watch.
  • I can put my shoes and socks on all by myself!

  • Cardiologist visit: Last year my pediatrician detected a heart murmur during one of my checkups, so we had it checked out by a cardiologist. Everything checked out okay and we were assured that it is common in babies and young children. Today I had a follow up appointment with the cardiologist. Just like last year, they had to do an EKG. They tricked me into thinking I was getting lots of special stickers and special clips. I cooperated and sat very still. Once again, everything checked out fine. The doctor was so nice, I even gave her a hug at the end.
This looks intimidating, but it was actually very easy.

  • My best friends: I am still attached to my friends, Doggy and Gato, as much as ever. We even added a new member to the mix, Perrito. The four of us are inseparable. In fact, any time we leave the house, I insist on bringing all of them with me (and I do notice when one of them is missing). It's not so fun for Mommy or Daddy, who have to carry all four of us at the same time out the front door, down the steps and into the car every day.

  • I love to clean! Another proud moment for Mommy. I am very good at putting things away when someone says "clean up." I also like to wipe things down and will purposely drip milk out of my sippy cup so I can wipe it up with a paper towel. Finally, I get excited whenever Mommy breaks out the Swiffer or the vacuum cleaner. I try my best to help her around the house!
A mini Dirt Devil just for me!

See you next month, when I'm TWO!

Memorial Day Weekend

We had a nice long Memorial Day weekend and went to visit Grandma and Grandpa. Since we were in the area, we made a quick visit to Happy Hollow.

This was my favorite ride from our last visit.

I was really excited to go on this dragon train ride. Mommy and Daddy thought it was uneventful and totally not worth the wait in line.

We went to the petting zoo of course. I got to brush the goats this time.

At the grandparents' house, I helped Goong Goong pick the largest (and only) lemon from their tree. He had been keeping it on the tree especially for my next visit.

I also helped Poh Poh prepare a fish for dinner.

Goong Goong and Poh Poh love to spoil me, so I always enjoy visiting them. Mommy and Daddy like visiting too because they get free babysitters for date night. Everybody wins!

Alzira and Isaac's Wedding

We had so much fun at Auntie Alzira and Uncle Isaac's wedding at the Wynn Las Vegas.  I was honored to be part of the wedding party as a junior flower girl!

My first pair of Stuart Weitzman's for the occasion! Mommy just couldn't resist...
Waiting patiently for the ceremony to begin.

We all did a great job during the ceremony. Sebastian and I walked down the aisle together holding little empty buckets (the older kids had bubbles in theirs which they blew while walking down the aisle). Sebastian charmed everyone by throwing his bucket onto the ground. I froze for a moment, then, I saw Mommy sitting in front and ran straight toward her.

Amazingly, we all stood still during the entire duration of the ceremony! It helped that Alex, Kiera and Braden continued to blow their bubbles while we were up there.

We all enjoyed being up there.

Married!

After the ceremony we were ready to party. We spent a good part of the cocktail hour running wildly around the dance floor. This video pretty much sums it all up:

I loved twirling around and around, even though it made me completely dizzy, lol.

I tried to dance, but then lost my confidence when Braden shut me out for an aggressive, older woman. My first rejection. :(

Congratulations Alzira and Isaac! Thank you for letting us be part of your special day!

Vegas baby, VEGAS!

This past weekend we went to Las Vegas for Auntie Alzira and Uncle Isaac's wedding. I had the best time ever - I got to hang out with Alex and Kieran and Kiera and Braden and Sebastian all at the same time. All weekend long. I was soooo happy!

A bed swing!

I met cousin Sebastian for the first time. We even happened to wear matching shirts one day!

Thank you for the teddy bear Sebastian!

Apparently Vegas is a completely different place to visit when kids are involved. Although I partied hard and stayed up way past my bedtime, we were still in bed by 10pm every night. No more clubbing and casinos for Mommy and Daddy.

We spent lots of time at the pool. One afternoon was spent with just the daddies while the mommies attended Auntie Alzira's bridal shower.

Everywhere we went, we insisted on holding hands.

We all loved the tram ride between Vdara and CityCenter.

At the rehearsal dinner, we all geeked out on our iPhones/PSP's.

Sunday afternoon was spent playing in the pool, lounging around, sipping cocktails, and watching hockey in our own cabana. Not a bad way to spend the day.

After a few hours in the pool and sun, I passed out on the lounge chair, exposing my diaper for all to see.

We had so much fun hanging out with family all weekend. We should have a Vegas reunion every year!

Breakfast at Jean Phillipe Patisserie at the Bellagio became a daily ritual. YUMMY!

Up next...Alzira and Isaac's wedding!

Mommy's Day

Mommy had just three simple wishes for Mother's Day this year:

1)  Sleep in. Daddy took over morning duty all weekend and Mommy got to sleep in on Saturday AND Sunday. Although sleeping in really just meant sleeping until 8am, since we had swim class on Saturday morning and on Sunday, Mommy just woke up and couldn't go back to sleep. Gone are the days when she used to sleep until noon!

2)  Get a much needed mani/pedi. I made it especially easy for Daddy since I took a 2+ hour nap during the entire time she was gone. Everybody got to relax.

3)  Go out for ice cream. Check.

My first real ice cream cone! I devoured it!

Mommy had a great day spending time with the two people she loves most. To her, every day is Mother's Day!

Carnival

Today our nearby elementary school threw a huge carnival, and we went to check it out. I made two fantastic new discoveries:

First, the giant slide of fun!

It looked intimidating at first, but once Daddy went down with me I was hooked. I couldn't wait to go down again! Mommy took me a second time.

Then, we took a ride on the helicopter-go-round.

I had so much fun waving at Daddy every time we flew by him. As soon as the ride stopped I was already demanding más, and started crying when Mommy tried to help me off. The man was nice enough to let me ride again, but after that, getting off the ride was the biggest ordeal. I threw a huge tantrum.

It looks like Mommy is laughing at my misery. She was just amazed at how upset I was over a helicopter ride.

I am such a thrill-seeker. Looks like I have many years of amusement parks ahead of me!
