Maui Beaches

We wanted to explore some other beaches in Maui other than the one at our resort so we found two that were a short drive away. The first was Napili Bay, which we discovered during our last trip a few years ago. It is Mommy's favorite beach in Maui and popular for its tidepools and sea turtle sightings.

As part of my independent study while I was on vacation, I had to write a short story. I decided to write about our outing to Napili Bay.

One sunny and cold day I was on the beach. I was so excited! I was there with my mommy and daddy and my brother Colin.

I went swimming and there were tidepools. At the tidepools I saw fish. I was hoping to see a sea turtle.

And suddenly we saw people stand at the rocks. Maybe it was a sea turtle but we don't know? It is a sea turtle!

It was another fun day. I liked the turtle. After all that we packed up our buckets and shovels and sand rakes. Then we went to the hotel room. The End.

We also took an excursion to Baby Beach in Lahaina. This was a much calmer beach with little waves and shallow waters, perfect for babies hence the name. Colin and I loved wading in the water and I even saw some fish using my goggles. I wish I had discovered snorkeling earlier - this beach would have been perfect! It wasn't crowded at all and we spent a few hours playing and building sand castles.

Maui!

We finally took a long overdue vacation to Maui! It was everything we were hoping for - warm tropical weather, sandy beaches, yummy food, and fabulous accommodations. And it was as relaxing as it could get with an active two year old!

Colin's first ever plane ride! He did great for a five hour flight, thanks to the iPad.

Although Mommy and Daddy always talk about going somewhere different for vacation, they ultimately end up back at the same place. This was their fourth time going to Maui and staying in Ka'anapali. This time we splurged and rented an awesome two bedroom condo at the Honua Kai resort. It was super spacious and me and Colin got our own room. There was also a huge wraparound lanai, plenty of room for us to run around and play hide and seek.

Breakfast every morning on our lanai.
We made sure to make it to the fish feeding every morning we were there.
Worn out from water activities + a comfy bed = the best naps every day!

We went swimming every single day. There wasn't much lounging around by the pool since Colin always wanted to be in the water, not sitting on a chair next to the water. Not so relaxing for Mommy or Daddy, but fun for him.

I really loved the waterslide! Last time we came here I wasn't tall enough to ride it.

The resort also had direct access to Ka'anapali Beach. The sand was really nice but the waves were a little rough, at least compared to some other beaches we visited. It didn't seem to stop Colin though. Any time we were on the beach he would head straight for the water. He was fearless!

Colin was always either soaking wet or covered head to toe in sand.

It wasn't until the last day that I decided to try snorkeling. I practiced in the pool to get comfortable. But by the time we tried to go in the ocean, it was afternoon and the water was too choppy. Wish I had discovered it earlier in the trip!

Mommy turned 40 during our vacation! We celebrated with cake in our room and then had dinner at Monkeypod in Wailea.

And Mommy and Daddy also celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary!

It was a memorable vacation and we spent some great quality family time together.

It's not a Hawaii vacation without sunsets! Mommy loves her sunset photos.
