Last Day of Lil' Sprouts

We celebrated the last day of Lil' Sprouts with an ice cream party. It has been an amazing first year of preschool - I met lots of new friends, learned to play nicely and to listen to teachers. We enjoyed story times, art projects, music class, and outdoor play. I was always excited and eager to go to school. According to my teachers, I am "not shy" and have "quite the personality." That's a good thing, right?

Last Day of 1st Grade

School is out! We had quite a celebration for our last day of school. First, all the first grade classes got together and performed a little musical for the parents. We sang about Aesop's Fables and I was a narrator for one of the stories.

Back in the classroom, Ms. Semple gathered us all together and gave each student a special award. She is such a special teacher and was able to find a unique quality in each of her students. At one point she cried and made all the parents cry too - it was very emotional!

We had a small class party and said goodbye to our mealworms.

After school, there was an unofficial school picnic on the field. It is tradition for all the kids to gather and have a huge water fight. Last year was too cold so we skipped it, but this year the weather was perfect and we spent all afternoon squirting water guns and throwing water balloons. My friends and I were one of the last ones to leave. It was a great end to a great year!

First Dance Recital!

I've been taking a dance class all year and we ended the year with a spring recital. It was a combo class so we learned tap, jazz, and ballet, but the instructor chose tap for our performance. I was glad because out of the three I like tap the best. We danced to Runaway Baby by Bruno Mars.

Picture day with my class/schoolmates.

Mommy took a video of the performance during the dress rehearsal.

I was excited but nervous to be performing on stage. It was my first performance ever! I ended up having a lot of fun and it showed. I've come a long way since my first dance class!

Back to School Night

We had a lot of projects to show off for Back to School Night.

Giant paper tree decorated with all our artwork. I am standing in front of the classroom pet, Teddy's cage (he is a bearded dragon).
Poetry writing. Very deep.
The paper mache animal heads are one of Ms. Semple's biggest projects each year. We started on them weeks in advance with the help of lots of parent volunteers. That is my white tiger.
Showing off a mealworm (which we feed to Teddy).
Me and my fourth grade buddy.

We remember going to Back to School Night last year, visiting all the classrooms and being really impressed with Room 8 because of all the cool stuff it had. It was one of the reasons why I wanted Ms. Semple for my first grade teacher. Luckily, I got to be a part of it this year!

Orange County Wedding

One of Daddy's cousins got married and I was asked to be a flower girl. I don't think we had even ever met the couple but it sounded like a fun gig so I accepted. Before we knew it I was sent a dress, shoes, and an invitation in the mail. All we had to do was show up!

The wedding was at Los Coyotes Country Club in Buena Park. Since we are rarely dressed up, Mommy made sure to take plenty of pictures. Luckily we got some of the pro photos too (you can totally tell which ones those are).

Colin cleans up pretty nicely! He also kept looking at me and saying "I like your dress, Kaitlyn." :)
Ready to perform my duty!

My job was easy and fun. This was my third time as a flower girl so I've had a lot of experience! In the video you can hear Colin saying hi to me as I walk by.

We had drank Shirley Temples for the first time!

During the reception Colin had the most fun at the photo booth. He kept insisting on going back and trying on all the different masks.

He also enjoyed dancing with the other flower girl. I joined him reluctantly. It had been a long day so we had one quick dance before we called it a night.

California Adventure

Over Memorial Day weekend we drove down to Orange County for a wedding and since we were there, we spent a day at California Adventure. It was probably the last time Colin could pass for being under the age of 3 and get in for free, so we had to take advantage of it. Even though it was Friday before a long weekend, it wasn't as crowded as we expected and the lines were pretty short. We went on almost every ride twice!

We spent lots of time in Cars Land and went on the Radiator Springs ride for the first time. It was super fast and I loved it! It was my favorite ride of the day. I also loved Goofy's Sky School roller coaster and Ariel's Under the Sea Adventure.

At one point, Mommy took me and Colin to watch the Disney Dance Party show and Daddy decided to check out the California Screamin' roller coaster. He took advantage of the single rider line where there was zero wait, and ended up riding it five times! He felt a little sick after that.

Gotta have the Mickey Mouse ice cream bar!

It was a fun and successful day!
