11 Months!

I am eleven months old! It was quite a month for me. I caught a cold and an ear infection, and of course, continued teething. I also kept busy attending a wedding and two birthday parties. All my friends are turning one, and it will be my turn very soon!
  • I weigh 17 lbs, 5 oz. I'm gaining weight, but at eleven months I STILL fit into 6-mo. clothing and size 2 diapers!
  • I can pull myself up to standing. Mom documented it all right here.
  • Crawling? Nope. Even though I can practically walk, I'm still doing the army crawl, dragging my whole body across the floor.
  • I wave goodbye. I learned how to do it at daycare in the mornings when watching Mom and Dad from the window. Occasionally, it's been accompanied by a "buh-buh." Could that possibly be my first word?
  • No more boob milk. Right after I turned 10 months, I practically self-weaned myself in a matter of days. One day I was breastfeeding, and the next day I completely lost interest and preferred the bottle. Now I'm on 100% formula, drinking up to 24 oz. every day.
  • New favorite activities. I love climbing all over Mom and Dad and playing with their heads, including playing "dentist" with Mom (forcing her mouth open and inspecting her teeth), slapping Dad's head repeatedly, and chewing on Dad's ears. I also love holding any object in each hand, and banging them together to make noise.
  • Favorite foods: I still love cheese. But I also love greek yogurt and cauliflower/broccoli with cheese sauce. I also discovered pizza and pupusas this month, and I'm a huge fan!

And since I'm sure you can't get enough pictures of me...
See my big tummy?
Only one short month and I will be 1 year old!

Too cute!

I took these pictures last Sunday, after I put Kaitlyn down for her morning nap. I normally lay her down in the crib, but since lately she's just been getting back up, I decided to sit her down. When I checked the video monitor a few minutes later, I found her like this - the same position I left her in! It was too cute I had to go back in and snap some photos. :)

"Look Mom, I'm standing!"

Another milestone has been reached! Kaitlyn is now pulling herself up and standing! It took a little over two weeks to figure it out, but now that she has, she is constantly crawling around the house and finding things to pull herself up on.

It all started with the TV stand. The drawer handle was at the perfect height for Kaitlyn to pull herself to her knees, and this became her favorite spot for a few days. Sometimes she would get "stuck," hang out in this position for a few minutes, and then cry for someone to rescue her.

Another favorite spot was the window ledge.

Then one day, all of sudden, she just started doing it. She pulled herself up all on her own!

Now she does it all the time. And she can play with her new activity table!

And of course, it means it's time to lower her crib.

My little girl is getting so big. It won't be long now until she's walking!

Mother's Day

This year was my first Mother's Day as a mom. It was actually more like a Mother's Day weekend, because Prentice offered to take morning duty on both Saturday AND Sunday! Kaitlyn usually wakes up between 6-7am and plays hard for at least two hours before her morning nap, so being relieved from morning duty is a huge treat (especially this morning, when she decided to wake up at 5:45am). I got to sleep in past 9am on both days!

I received my first ever Mother's Day gift from Kaitlyn. She had a little help at daycare, but I was so surprised and touched to receive my first piece of art from her.

Pictures taken at daycare. In the first one she is sitting in the pot and in the second one she is holding herself up and standing!

I even received flowers at work on Friday. I brought them home so I could enjoy them over the weekend.

Finally, Prentice cooked dinner for the whole family, including my mom and grandma.

Kaitlyn with three generations of moms!

I know Mother's Day is meant to be a day to show how much you appreciate your mom, but now that I'm a mom myself, I feel it's more like a day to appreciate being a mom. I feel so lucky to be Kaitlyn's mommy and it just gets more and more rewarding each day.

I would love getting to sleep in more often though...

SoCal weekend

This past weekend we flew down to SoCal. Although we were supposed to visit Grandma and Grandpa, turns out they were in Hong Kong! Since they were away, I helped clean their kitchen floor.

We went to my friend Dylan's first birthday party. It was a beautiful sunny day and I had so much fun hanging out on the lawn and playing with my friends.
Hmm, I think this is my first time ever sitting in grass.

It's never too early to start kissing boys (shh, don't tell Daddy)!

Hanging out with the birthday boy.

The birthday cone hats were so cute!

It's also never a trip to OC without a visit to Cosi. Mom used to frequent this eatery when she was living in NYC. She looooves their sandwiches.

It was my second plane trip to SoCal and I did pretty well on both flights. I was a little restless on the way back, but at least I wasn't screaming like the other baby on the other side of the aisle. :)

It was another fun weekend and I was sad to be home. I tried to help Mom and Dad unpack, hoping that they'll take me on another trip again soon!

10 Months!

I've made it to the double digits! Woohoo! I know we haven't posted much this month, but it's busy being a baby.
  • I'm crawling! It's more like an army crawl since I still don't lift my tummy off the ground. But I can go surprisingly fast and far by dragging my body across the floor. If I do get my tummy off the ground, I will lunge forward, but haven't figured out how to put it all together yet.
  • I stick out my tongue on demand. If Mom or Dad stick their tongue out, I'll respond by sticking my own tongue out and making raspberry sounds. Then I'll start cracking up at what I just did.
  • I also clap my hands together on demand. Another trick learned at day care. I've also been caught clapping randomly for strangers.
  • I give kisses. I started giving them to Johanna and now also give them to Mom and Dad. I'll grab their faces with both my hands and then put my mouth on their cheek or forehead. I don't really know how to kiss yet, so sometimes I'll just leave my mouth there and other times I'll stick my tongue out and do raspberries. At least I have the right idea.
  • I've started trying to pull myself up. Whether it's leaning against something or trying to bear crawl, I'll do anything to feel the weight on my legs.
  • New favorite finger foods. Little cubes of cheese and soft bread. Yum!

Long weekend!

I had a fun and eventful long weekend. Mom and Dad had a holiday on Friday, so we spent the day going shopping at the Gilroy outlets. Now that I'm around, baby clothing outlets have a whole new meaning to Mom. After a long day of shopping, I made out with more clothes than both of them!

On Saturday I went to swim class in the morning. After seven weeks I've been doing a lot better in the pool. I get submerged under water at least three times each class, and I haven't cried yet!

We then spent the afternoon hanging out in the park. I forgot my hat so got to borrow my friend's bonnet. Cute!

Finally, we stopped by the mall. To celebrate my first Easter, I took a picture with this big bunny!

On Sunday after a delicious brunch at Crepevine and a few errands, I spent the day hanging out at home and playing real hard. Here's a video that Dad took.

Ahh, I love the weekends!
