My 5th Birthday Party

Like every other little girl, I wanted a Frozen party for my birthday this year. Really, I'm not that into princesses, but after going to another birthday party where Elsa and Anna showed up, I insisted on having them at my party too. Since we've been to enough Frozen/winter/snowflake-themed parties lately and my birthday is in the summer, Mommy made it a Frozen in Summer party.

Mommy wanted a picture with me before the party and I wanted to stand in front of the streamers that matched our clothes.
The only shot with the streamer decorations in the background that took forever to hang. Never again!

We had some simple snacks and for once, Mommy took the time to match the food with the theme and make some clever little food labels. She couldn't resist, thanks to Pinterest.

Your Own Personal Snow Flurries (Pirate's Booty) and Sven Snacks
"We Finish Each Other's" Sandwiches and Troll Meatballs
That "Marshmallow Mix" was good stuff! Vanilla Chex, pretzel sticks, mini marshmallows, and icy blue sixlets.
Had to include the "melted snowman" water, lol.

The Pin the Nose on Olaf game was a hit. All the kids were taking second and third turns.

Mommy had told me that Elsa and Anna were too busy to come to my party so that I wouldn't expect them. So when she had all the kids sit down for a surprise, I asked her "What's the surprise? Are we playing musical chairs?" It really was a great surprise when they showed up and I was beaming the whole time!

The princesses were great entertainers and had really good voices. They sang songs, played some games with us, and made balloon animals. They did a great job of making me feel extra special. Here's a video of them singing Let it Go. Surprisingly, even the boys sang and danced along!

Ice cream cone cupcakes for the kids (easier to serve), regular cake for the grownups
Olaf in summer cake. The Olaf figurine is actually a pool toy and his hula skirt is made out of that fake grass that comes with sushi. The towel is made out of fruit roll-ups. He was supposed to be sitting under an umbrella but Mommy totally forgot to put it on the cake.
Some of my preschool friends.
I helped Mommy with the favor bags, which is why half the labels ended up going on crooked.

I had so much fun from beginning to end and was excited to have so many friends over at my house at once. And now I can say that Elsa and Anna have actually been to my house!

I'm FIVE!

I am officially five years old! On the day of my birthday I had summer school in the morning and got a special birthday sticker in class. For dinner we went to our family favorite Urban Bistro, where I got to watch episodes of Tom and Jerry while eating my favorite mac n' cheese. Afterward, we went home and celebrated with ice cream cake.

I had specifically requested a balloon cake, with Elsa and Anna on it.

Poor Colin, he probably didn't even know what the birthday cake was but with all those colors and frosting he knew he wanted it. He couldn't even wait for us to finish singing before the tantrum started (he got a slice shortly afterward).

I love all birthdays, but I love mine the most of all!

County Fair

We've gone to the San Mateo County Fair pretty much every year since I was born (we skipped one year) and it has become an annual tradition. I'm much more into the carnival rides now, but unfortunately still too short for the ferris wheel, which I really wanted to go on. Hopefully next year!

This is a deep fried pineapple on a stick! It was tasty.

A visit to the petting zoo is always a must. We love this petting zoo because there's always more than the usual goats and sheep. They also had a llama, baby deer, and even kangaroos!

Baby kangaroo. So cute!
And an even tinier kangaroo being carried in it's Mommy's pocket.
Colin spent a good half hour playing with these corn kernels.

Preschool Graduation

I graduated from preschool! We had a simple graduation ceremony outside of our preschool classroom. We recited the Pledge of Allegiance, performed some small plays, sang songs, then each received our diplomas. There were some tears, thanks to one of the teachers who is leaving the school after fourteen years. She started getting emotional during her speech and it was hard for most of the moms to keep a dry eye! We'll all have some great memories of our past three years at preschool.

Reciting the Pledge of Allegiance
Playing a fish in The Three Little Fishes. My only line was "Not by the skin of my finny-fin-fin!"

Here's a video of me receiving my diploma. (Sorry for the bad quality - Mommy attempted to take a video and photo at the same time with her camera and failed, so we just have Daddy's fuzzy iPhone video.)

At the end of the ceremony we all ran out and danced to Let it Go. Apparently there was some debate about which song we should all dance to, and the boys weren't happy with the final decision (you can see them covering their ears during the song).

And finally, we all went inside the classroom and celebrated with some cake, which Colin probably enjoyed the most.

Saying goodbye to my teachers.

And just like that, my preschool years are over. Onward to kindergarten!

Diva Run

Mommy ran a 5K a few weekends ago with Auntie Gigi and friends and got all this fun "diva" stuff from the race. Colin and I had fun dressing up with it for the rest of the day (and then all three of us were over it). Anyone want a pink tutu?

The Quan's Visit

Auntie Alzira, Uncle Isaac and nine-month old Izzy came to visit from Toronto. Their visit was short, but we were glad to get to hang out with them and meet baby Izzy! Colin (and Brady) were happy to have a new little friend. Thanks to Uncle Isaac (and his selfie stick) for most of the photos!

Eating out with us is not easy!

Junior Gym

I have been taking classes at Junior Gym in San Mateo for the past few weeks. Since I wouldn't take soccer or dance classes again, Mommy had to find something to keep me busy and active. At first I was skeptical about gymnastics but it turns out it was really easy! I learned how to do a somersault on the first day and soon after was doing flips on the bars. Best of all, after class there is open gym and Mommy could set Colin free and we could both run around and play with all the equipment and toys.

On the last day of class we were tested for a ten-step routine we had been practicing. I was happy to pass and receive a medal!

I've stopped taking classes for the summer, but Colin started the baby class with Mommy since he loves it there so much. We're glad we discovered this place!
